Our DX friends in the West of Ireland should be in for a
veritable feast with the up-coming ZL9 Campbell operation.
The antipodean point for ZL9HR appears to be about 50km off Dingle Bay on the south-west coast of EI. Antipodean focussing is a significant phenomenon, providing considerable propagation enhancement across the spectrum.
G3SXW and I recall it well when operating from ZL7 Chatham many years ago. The antipodean point for ZL7 was Montpelier in south-west France. There was a noticeable enhancement of signals arriving into ZL7 from a 200km range around that antipodean point. In particular on 10m/12m when absolutely nothing else was being heard from anywhere in Europe, loud signals would be coming from SW France/NE Spain.
