2. Sections, classes and contest days

Section Day Note
50 MHz 2nd Thursday of the month One class
70 MHz 3rd Thursday of the month One class
144 MHz 1st Tuesday of the month Two classes: 144S and 144E
432 MHz 2nd Tuesday of the month Two classes: 432S and 432E
1296 MHz 3rd Tuesday of the month One class
2.3 GHz and above 4th Tuesday of the month Microwave class

For 144 MHz and 432 MHz, class S applies to stations with a maximum output power of 100 watts measured at the transmitter or power amplifier output. Class E is used when the output power is higher than 100 watts.

3. Tidspunkt

Alle NAC-testene kjøres i tidsrommet 19:00-23:00 norsk tid. Dette tilsvarer 18:00-22:00 UTC i vintertid og 17:00-21:00 UTC i sommertid.

3. Timing

All NAC contests are held from 19:00 to 23:00 Norwegian local time. This corresponds to 18:00-22:00 UTC during standard time and 17:00-21:00 UTC during daylight saving time.

4. Kontakter, modulasjon og rapporter

  • Hver stasjon teller kun én gang per test.

4. Contacts, modes and reports

  • Each station counts only once per contest.
  • QSOs via an active repeater, satellite or EME are not valid.
  • For MGM, fully automatic QSO software is not permitted; the operator must personally carry out all parts of the contact exchange.
  • The operating mode must follow the IARU Region 1 band plan for the relevant band.
  • The exchange must include RS(T) and a 6-character locator, for example 589/JO59JX.
  • On 50 MHz outside Region 1, a 4-character locator may be used, in which case MM must be added as characters 5 and 6.

5. Poengberegning

5. Scoring

Points are calculated from the exchanged locator and the distance between locator centers, in accordance with the IARU Region 1 VHF Handbook.

Band Scoring rule
50, 70, 144, 432 and 1296 MHz 1 point per km + 500 points for each new large square, for example JO49 or JO59.
2.3 GHz and above 1 point per km multiplied by the GHz multiplier + 500 points for each new large square.

The GHz multiplier stated in the source is: 2.3 GHz = 2, 3.4 GHz = 3, 5.7 GHz = 4, 10 GHz = 5, 24 GHz = 6 and 47 GHz = 7.

6. Logger

6. Logs

  • A computer program that supports the REG1TEST EDI format must be used.
  • Only electronic logs are accepted.
  • A separate log must be written for each section.
  • The class must be stated in addition to the section, for example 144S or 144E.
  • The log must be submitted no later than one week after the contest has been held.
  • Participants are encouraged to submit logs even if they do not expect a top placing.

7. Adjudication and complaints

  • An incorrect QSO is a contact with errors in the exchanged information, such as callsign, report or locator.
  • Logs with many obvious errors may be rejected in whole or in part.
  • Complaints must be submitted no later than three weeks after publication of the results and documented to the contest manager.

8. Winners and awards

  • Section and class winners are those who achieve the highest score during the year.
  • The nine best contests count toward each participant's annual result.
  • Certificates are awarded to the top three on 50, 70, 1296 and 2.3 GHz and above.
  • For 144 MHz and 432 MHz, certificates are awarded to the top three in each class.
  • If a section has sufficient participation during the year, at least 12 submitted logs, the winner may receive a plaque.
